Wetlands in Central Macedonia

Central Macedonia hosts some of the most important wetlands in Europe, with the Lake Kerkini being one of the most prominent. Other important wetlands include the Axios–Loudias–Aliakmonas Delta, Lake Volvi, Lake Koroneia, and the Kitros Salt Pans, which serve as important habitats for rare bird species.

Lake Kerkini (Serres)

A wetland of international importance (RAMSAR), ideal for birdwatching, boating, and horseback riding.
